L&G and Anthology getting festive!

Anthology just launched their lovely online Holiday issue and we're excited to be one of the contributers for them for the first time!!

For this issue, Meg (the editor) asked us to make a special holiday wreath for the "Holiday Hang Ups!" (pg 43) section featuring various handmade wreaths! I never make one before and thought "OK, why not!"

My vision was to make something that's simple, not too holiday-ey but still warm & cozy all at the same time. I was a bit worried that it would look too boring....but thanks to Anthology team who styled & shot everything so well that they made it feel extra nice & festive!

Check out the rest of the Holiday issue  and get in on the festivities!

L&G Makin' Some Rounds this Holiday

It's that time of the year to celebrate the holiday and shop for gifts!!! (....and we still can't believe it almost the end of year!)
But boy, are we excited for this joyful season and for getting into some holiday gift guides!
Check em' out!
Here's our Ovis Hanging Chair front & center on Seattle Metropolitan Magazine

Our Aura lights was also featured in the latest issue of Gray Magazine (also Seattle based magazine)
Here's our lil' chalk piggy bank made it in to Cool Hunting's Gift guide!

Here's our Superior Servers in RealSimple's roundup of serving utensils.

AND our servers is also featured in November issue of ALASKA AIRLINE magazine (pg76)!!....oh how I love flying on Alaska Air especially on their small jets (i.e. Seattle to Portland) where I get to down a glass of complimentary wine in 15min. It's awesome....

And through FAB, our chalk piggy bank also made it into NY Post's holiday gift guide...along with the insanely famous FURBY and NIKKI MANAJ..... perfume. No joke.  Here's the printed version...and be prepared to be blown away by this collection!!!

I think the only way we can ever beat Furby or Nicki is to make a new version of chalk piggy bank that talks like a creep and wears bright pink wigs...then we're gonna pitch this to Shark Tank and make BANK!

Seeing some of the photos makes me really appreciate the soft glooming light we get in the NW 75% of the year. There's just something about the light that makes everything seem more mysterious and dream-like...

I'd Like to Tap That: Smith Tower...Again

Check out this amazing photos essay by our friend  Kyle Johnson who did the piece for Kinfolk Magazine Vol. 3!! Kyle proposed the project and shot the story while Ashley Helvey styled the shoot at the top pyramid part of Smith Tower.

When the NYT feature of the space came out about 2 years ago,  I wrote a blog post about that space and about how my life won't even compare to the 3 year old kid who's been living there!! But that was the past... now the NEW me, is little bit more optimistic knowing that I'm less than 6 degrees separated from the people who lives there.  I'm getting SO close I can taste it!But seriously though....I'm SUPER excited for Kyle & Ashley that they got to do this (and of course, equally jealous! ) It looked like such a surreal expereince....to hang out in the space, see the view of the city & the water from the 40th floor, while eating a homemade meal by Molly Wizenberg (of Orangette) and Brandon Pettit ( of Delancey)!

Yah, I know, can it get anymore ridiculous than this? I would very much like to shut the front door on them, too.

Someday....I'll get to a point where I don't have to pay $35+ just to see views like this on a day-to-day bases.

L&G in Monocole Magazine!!!!!

Sorry to have to play favorites , BUT this one deserves a few EXTRA exclamation mark!!!!

We LOVE this awesome UK magazine and was more than stoked to have BOTH our Chalk Piggy bank AND Perimeter Tray be featured in the April issue!!

Reading this magazine is like having THE BEST worldly European friend with phenomenal taste to hang out with you.....I just automatically feel a bit more awesome and well-informed about all the current events around the world.

On top of all that, I get to meet the most amazing people, see the most incredible spaces and places, AND learn about  the best places to eat & shop!!!

Now if ONLY that friend was REAL.....

BUT since I don't have a real friend like that,  that's where Monocle comes in!

Hurray! my life is saved again!  Monocle, you're the BEST!! We're gonna be BFFs for, like, ever.

L&G in an Ukranian Magazine?!

We nearly cried when we got this in the mail! It's such a beautiful high-end design magazine...I just wish I know how to say it & read it!

A two page spread and all!! This is the biggest feature for us EV-AH!

Also part of my amazement is actually seeing the photos we took printed in an ACTUAL magazine...especially in such nice & pretty glossy magazine paper and all!! There's something so exciting about that!!!

Most of the photos are taken by us, with the exception of our portrait by our talented friend Kyle Johnson!

Oh and ooh... how I love the stamps...

I still can't believe this amazing featuring and spread of our stuff!!

So..maybe it's NOT impossible for us to get a centerfold next time???  ;)

Anthology's winter gift guide is available online

It's a beautiful compilation of all the wonderful festive parts of the holidays.

Our special holiday server set is in there, so look for them and get a special discount!

Also this recipe video of making mulled cider by Tiger in  Jar is absolutely lovely and is totally making me even more excited about the holidays! And if you like it spiked, I recommend adding honey whiskey or bourbon!

Some L&G Fall features

Totally stoked that our Superior Servers got some attention along with Be-YON-ce~ in the Fall issue of InStyle that weighs at least 5lb.

Although a little dissapointed that we didn't get a 8 page spread of us in fancy glam outfits nor an interview about my perspective on success, love & family like I thought we'd get...we're still pretty darn happy that our feature is at the back end of Beyonce! Hell yes.

Then us in Bon Appetit!

Just look at the juicy cover....Me huuuungry....

Then I spotted us in Small Magazine by accident! I'm totally excited when I saw this since I love looking at everything in there with their cute kids and cute photoshoots, clothes and everything! Something about things, people, and animals in smaller forms that simply makes them automatically cuter....except baby insects & reptiles....eew, gross.

Servers on Page 74!

I especially love the wooden poached egg!

Couple More L&G Features!

Our L&G Superior Servers also got featured in December's holiday gift guide in Traditional Home Magazine!
This and Sunset's feature this month was totally amazing for L&G! And because of it, we've literally been working non-stop since Thanksgiving.....which totally feels like centuries ago! There were people who even recognized our goods from the features couple of weekends ago at UCU show!

In addition, L&G's Chalk Piggy Bank got featured in the Seattle City Arts magazine, too! This feature I actually didn't even know about! But thanks to Jenny from {Far4} I was able to get a copy of it before it was too late!
It's been fun seeing where we've been popping up without knowing....it's almost like a scavenger hunt..even MORE exciting! :)

Print Magazine Shall Not Die

This is another exciting project by Meg Mateo Ilasco. Meg & Anh-Minh Le recently launched their quarterly print magazine, Anthology Magazine . It's just loveliness all around! They're only doing a small run of them now, and the last I've heard, they're about to sell out!!

I'm so glad to see actual print magazines coming out versus more web magazines. There's just nothing that compares to actually having the magazines in the hands to flip through the pages.
They even went all out and created this lovely stop motion video making a statement that print is not dead!! I love the cardboard typewriter, which Meg made herself!

I really don't know how she manages to do all this and come out with 2 books (Crafting a Meaningful Home & Creative Inc.) at the same time!!
Gawwwd....can anyone be any more productive??

Fabuloso Marketo

This awesomeness.....
plus this awesomeness....
Equals.....this awesomeness
Starting April 13-April 18 at the Milan Design Fair 2010, Apartamento Magazine and DesignMarketo are teaming up to create a pop up shop called FoodMarketo.

It's a half pop up store, half cooking workshop, selling contemporary design objects commissioned to over 30 international designers and hosting daily workshops to share recipes and everyday life ingredients.

I'm so wishing that I can go to Milan just for this event! If only I knew how to fly my private jet that's sitting in my backyard...man, this sucks.

...but Chloë sevigny's life on the other hand looks pretty awesome....

L&G on Lucky Magazine!

Okay...take deep breath...
So get this...our Mega Doily Rug got featured on Lucky Magazine! This is our very first time getting our designs featured in a printed magazine! Kind of a big deal for us, since all the past mentions of L&G were all viral, (which I'm more than grateful for all the kind mentions!), but for some reason getting an actual feature in an editorial magazine makes it feel so official!

I knew before that the rug would be featured on the March issue...but totally forgot that the issue comes out a month before....so all this still caught me by surprised when I found out that the issue came out this last weekend!

But on another SUPER exciting note for L&G is that I'll also be contributing to Meg Mateo Illasco's new book "Crafting a Meaningful Home"  (STC Craft/Melanie Falick Books).

I had the honor to meet Meg in person last year at the Renegade Craft Fair when she was doing some book signing for her book, Craft Inc. Through some casual conversation and me getting her autographed book, we ended up talking about her new book. One thing lead to another and the next thing I know, both Chika and I were talking about projects to propose for her book and dates for a photoshoot in SF! I swear, no one was drunk when all this happened!

But this is even BIGGER deal! Don't get me wrong, blogs & magazines...I'm not making it sound like this a competition nor am I playing favorites, but I'm saying it's a bigger deal because I realized how much work goes into putting a book together from both ends.  Turns out publishing a book isn't so easy...who would of thought, right?
There was so much back and forth of editing and re-editing that goes on and really made me wonder how people did this before the world wide inter-web came about...

In anyhow, the book will come out this Fall and we'll be able to share more in beginning of this summer!!  I'm trying really hard not too say too much, but I'm totally excited knowing what I know and knowing how awesome this book is gonna be!

Stay tuned for more updates!!
